A panel of Superior Court judges has challenged a controversial 2011 Orange County law that bans sex offenders from parks, beaches and even some roadways and asked the state Court of Appeal to review the measure. On Friday, the district attorney’s office, which has pushed cities across the county to join in adopting a version of the sex offender ban, vowed to continue enforcing it.
“I believe that protecting children from sex offenders is one of the highest priorities in law enforcement,” Dist. Atty. Tony Rackauckas said in a statement. Full Article
Someone please tell me she did not really say this:
The effectiveness of this law will never show up on a statistic,” Susan Kang Schroeder, chief of staff for the district attorney, said in a past interview. “Because a sex offender did not show up in a park, a child did not get raped or molested.
Tired of hiding, the three judges are superior to the OCDA and cohorts. I do give them thumbs up; their eyes are open.
The Lake Forest City Council meeting on Tuesday evening could be exciting if the Orange County District Attorney and/or his staff show up to try to persuade the Council NOT to overturn their park ban for all registrants. We can only hope that the City Council will not be swayed by his fear mongering once again thus continuing to violate the state constitution. What will it take for the City Council to see the light? Please come join California RSOL at the Lake Forest city council meeting. We need as many people as possible to show support for the constitution and the civil rights of registrants and their family members!
if this was true that they “I believe that protecting children from sex offenders is one of the highest priorities in law enforcement,” then maybe they should take away driving lisc for speeding with kids in the car. Or a registry for every crime to protect the children. you can use this justification for anything. let’s ticket that person because they are picking their nose. it’s a bad example and we need to protect the children. :O
